Quran Interpretation Books Attributed to Imam Sadeq (AS) Based on Muhkamat Verses
Existing reliable interpretations of the Holy Quran attributed to Imam Sadeq (AS) are of established meaning emanated from Muhkamat verses of the Holy Quran (verses that are not only clear in themselves, but also help in the interpretation of the other verses).
This is according to Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Mehdi Haeri Qazvini, seminary instructor and Quranic researcher, who said reliable and authentic books and interpretations attributed to Imam Sadeq (AS) are based upon Aqli (rational) Muhkamat verses of the Holy Quran.
Referring to the book “Truth about Interpretations” compiled by Jamil Salmi, Imam’s (AS) student, he described its Hadiths as unacceptable as no corroborating evidence have yet been found for them.
He said that one of the main measures taken by Imam Sadeq (AS) to confront misinterpretation of the Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was training students and the Imam (AS) is said to have trained some 4000 students from different schools of thought.
He further said that Mohammad-Ibn-e-Saeb Kalbi, was another student of the Imam (AS) who had a great mastery over interpretation of the Holy Quran and wrote an interpretational exegesis titled “Ayat-al- Ahkam” (verses with legal content) which is among the most reliable Shiite sources.
He further explained that Suleiman bin Mehran A’amash was another student of Imam Sadeq (AS) who is approved both among Shiites and Sunnis adding that he also prepared the ground for clearing up the then misunderstanding regarding the Quran.
Hojat-ol-Islam Qazvini added Ismail Ibn-e-Mulsem bin Abi Ziad Shoaibi and Maghatel bin Suleiman were among the students of Imam Sadeq (AS) as well who by writing different books on interpretation of the Holy Quran contributed significantly to confronting misinterpretation of the Holy Quran.
He went on to say that those Hadiths with corroborating evidence narrated by Imam Sadeq (AS) have been sent down to them from his Holy ancestors.
Hojat-ol-Islam Qazvini noted the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had surely received Quran’s interpretation via revelation and had conveyed it to his offspring.
